SXU recycling rate on the rise for RecycleMania contest
SXU's pounds of recyclables for the 2009 RecycleMania contest are nearly double the amount of its 2008 figures. RecycleMania is a friendly competition and benchmarking tool for college and university recycling programs to promote waste reduction activities to their campus communities.

First in America to Use European Bike-Share Program

The Office of Sustainability and Facilities Management is proud to introduce the GreenBike share program to SXU. Students and employees are able to check out the green and yellow three-speed bikes 24 hours a day, seven days a week at any of the more than 20 computerized docking stations across the Chicago Campus.

The program uses state-of-the-art technology to integrate the 30 bike docking station modules. Students and employees can use cell phones and their University Cougar “smart” cards to immediately hire a bike. The self-service system enhances mobility for and is great for the environment as well! The first 15 minutes are free, after that, it is 60 cents for every 15 minutes.
